Using the Malayalam keyboard

Please read this portion only after installation of the programme and all

additional fonts, because some Malayalam words are mixed in this page

Go on typing by clicking with mouse.

The matter will appear in the message box at bottom. Although

the message box column will look small, when it is filled, it will

automatically turn into a scrollable type box.

For Inserting missed characters in between words

For example the word "#<fD" was typed, but missed the character

<. To insert < between # and f the following method is to be followed

Place the cursor between # and f click the left mouse button

once then bring the mouse pointer over the character < on screen a pop-up message will appear stating that "Press Shift plus < on keyboard", i.e. press the

shift key on English keyboard and press < button on English keyboard with fingers.

The < character is inserted in between # and f. This should

be done with fingers. Like this for every character a pop-up message is given

in order to enable the user to insert missed characters.

Saving the typed matter

Click the save button to save the typed matter. Give a file name and path

The file is saved in rtf format (Rich Text Format). This file can be opened

in Word Document, Word Pad or in any other program that supports rtf format.

Opening the saved file

To open the file in Malayalam Keyboard itself - click the open button and

select the path and file name and click OK. the saved file will be opened in

message box for inserting missed characters.

Opening the saved file in Word

Click file menu in Word, select open command, the Open dialog box will appear.

In the Open dialogue box from "Files of type" scroll down the down arrow and select

"Rich Text Format" or "all files". The saved fill will appear in the file list.

Double click on the file name, the file will open in Word. Here the decoration

work can be done i.e. enlarging the fonts, colouring the fonts, making italic, making bold

underlining, margin setting, adding figures, English letters etc. and finally getting printed.

The typed matter can also be copied from message box and pasted in Word or

any other program that supports rtf format for getting printout. To do this -

Click the select button on Malayalam Keyboard - the typed matter gets highlighted.

Place the mouse cursor anywhere in the highlighted message and click RIGHT Mouse button then select copy. Open Word or any other program which supports rtf format and click the paste button of that program (or click edit and select paste command)

For emailing the message

Copy from message box as mentioned above and paste in email message box in

Outlook Express. Or send from word document directly or send as file

attachment from word. But, while sending the Malayalam message the particular

Malayalam font "jacobsml.ttf" also should be sent along with the message

and inform the recipient to install this font before opening the message then only

the recipient can read the message in Malayalam. This font file can be found in disk 3

Occasionally, the Malaylam keyboard may show English characters instead of Malayalam. On such occasions, open the fonts folder in control panel

(click start, select settings, select control panel, double click fonts folder)

AND DOUBLE CLICK on "jacobsml.tt. font” to activate it. The keyboard will show Malayalam Characters.

For typing figures and English characters.

To type figures - press the figure keys from 1 to 0 with fingers

from keyboard and while formatting in Word highlight that particular character

and change the font to Times New Roman or Arial. The figure will appear.

Likewise English characters also can be mixed in Malayalam message.

Type that particular characters directly with fingers from keyboard,

highlight it and change the font to Arial or Times New Roman, the English

characters will appear.
