I am born in Punnala, brought up there. A serene village. People are mostly farmers. Farmers in the sense, they work in the fields.. the real farmers. Many people work abroad too, mainly in the gulf countries. This is a subforest area blessed with its natural resources, forests, lot of water streaming through every inch of the village. Even now it has an old charm of a village eventhough not in full strength. I surprise not to see any one here from my village as a lot of IT people are there, atleast I think so. The school which I studied for eight years, The Govt. Higher Secondary School, Punnala is a nostalgic feeling to me. In my child hood it was a typical kerala subforest village. I remeber a lot of people queing in the small roads at every morning. They were heading for firewood in the forest...a lot of women. Oh i forget to mention we are celebrating a MARAMDAY MAHOLSAVAM every year. An initiative of YUVAJANAVEDI, the young people. A lot more to write...i hope to be here frequently.
