Topic: Scrap Rajyasabha and State Legislative Councils
____________________________________________________________

Dear friends,

The debate and discourses on Women Reservation Bill in Parliament is going on. Many political parties like Congress, NCP, CPI (M), and CPI supported this bill, where as the main opposition party BJP also offered a half-baked support. However, parties like Samajwadi Party, BSP, JD(United), etc are opposing this Bill.

I have a suggestion, if this bill will pass in the parliament in near future.

In order to provide Reservation for women in Loksabha, we have to increase the strength of the House by 50%. Thus, we can allocate 33% of Loksabha seats to women without compromising the seats of existing MPs. As a result, the strength of the Loksabha will become around 830-835.

A big Loksabha means, a lot of Administration cost, which is not viable for a Developing Country like India. More than 30% of Indians are living under poverty. Farmers are committing suicide. Hence, just increasing the Loksabha seats will not yield any result. Hence we have to do some corrective measures before that.

The one solution is "Increase the Strength of Loksabha and State Legislative Assemblies by 50%" and scraps Rajyasabha and State Legislative Councils. This will reduce the unnecessary cost.

As a result, the contribution of each states in Loksabha will be as follows:

{The figure in bracket is the "number of seats reserved for women"}

1) Lakshadweep - 1
2) Kerala - 30 (10)
3) Tamil Nadu - 59 (20)
4) Pondicherry - 2 (1)
5) Andaman & Nicobar Islands - 2 (1)
6) Andhra Pradesh - 63 (21)
7) Karnataka - 42 (14)
8) Goa - 3 (1)
9) Maharashtra - 72 (24)
10) Gujarat - 39 (13)
11) Daman & Diu - 1
12) Dadra & Nagar Haveli - 1
13) Madhya Pradesh - 44 (15)
14) Chattisgarh - 17 (6)
15) Orissa - 32 (11)
16) Jharkhand - 21 (7)
17) Bihar - 61 (20)
18) Uttar Pradesh - 121 (40)
19) Uttaranchal - 8 (3)
20) Rajasthan - 38 (13)
21) Delhi - 11 (4)
22) Haryana - 15 (5)
23) Chandigarh - 2 (1)
24) Punjab - 20 (7)
25) Himachal Pradesh - 6 (2)
26) Jammu & Kashmir - 10 (3)
27) West Bengal - 63 (21)
28) Sikkim - 2 (1)
29) Arunachal Pradesh - 3 (1)
30) Assam - 21 (7)
31) Meghalaya - 3 (1)
32) Manipur - 3 (1)
33) Nagaland - 2 (1)
34) Tripura - 3 (1)
35) Mizoram - 2 (1)
36) Nominated - 22 (7)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Total Strength - 845 (284)

There will be 22 Nominated seats, out of which 7 will be allocated for women. In this 22, 8 seats can allocate to "Minute Minorities which has no representation in Parliament" (Sindhis - 2, Anglo-Indians - 2, Kashmiri Pundits - 1, Zoroastrians - 1, Jews - 1, Baha-I's - 1). 14 seats can allocate to Eminent Personalities and Scholars from the following field: Science, Technology, Industry, Media, Education, Literature, Arts, Sports, Social Service, Agriculture, Military, etc. In brief, there will be 845 seats in our Parliament.

Out of total 845, there will be 284 women MPs; that is 33.61%, which is more than 'one-by-third' of the total strength of the Parliament.
